This individual photography exhibition is a re-edition of the exhibition that the author presented at the inauguration of Nova Aldeia da Luz, in 2002.
In the words of the author, when the catalog/book for the “Luz” exhibition was launched in 2002, he mentions that “alongside the steps I took in capturing images of everyday life in the Village, I tried to fix the geometry of the spaces, highlighting the simplicity of the architectural elements. And, still, the light of Luz, in its eternal fluctuation, which is consumed slowly during the summer, populating the whiteness of the houses with shadows, only softened with the arrival of winter. Light, that raw material of life and photography, with which I was able to produce the images that make up this book”.
Through his sensitive eye, in which he sought out the most defining figurative elements of the Luzense community, he left us a photographic record that crystallized the memory of the place and the people of ancient Luz, for generations to come.
Renato Monteiro was born in Porto on January 12, 1946. He died in July 2021. He developed writing and photographic reporting work in editorial projects. He was a History teacher in Secondary Education, promoted photography through training activities, conferences and exhibitions.
