Paradeisos – Henrique Vieira Ribeiro – from March 19th to June 16th 2024

Paradeisos, by Henrique Vieira Ribeiro, opens on March 19th, at 4 pm.

The author is based on Hegel’s theory which, according to Tomás Maia, says that Paradeisos was the first Greek translation of Eden and that it would comprise a closed enclosure containing trees of all species and animals.

It is based on this premise that the Paradeisos project originated.

Composed of the presence of tree corpses whose growth is manipulated by Man, commonly known as bonsai, it is a practice that highlights the persistence of the Enlightenment as an ideology not always consciously understood, with this project fitting into a line of questioning about the human condition, namely the definition of (S)eating Human, as well as the way in which it relates to its surroundings.

The exhibition space will become site-specific, meaning the work is created according to the environment and space, being a place where the trees – dead – become the central element, complemented by the auroral sound.

The “Paradeisos” Exhibition can be visited until June 16, 2024.

The Museu da Luz is part of the Portuguese Museum Network and is open from Tuesday to Sunday.
