(Like a) Stone of Time – Patricia Magalhães – October 2, 2026 to January 10, 2027

The Museum of Light will host, from October 2, 2026 to January 10, 2027, the exhibition “(all a) STONE OF TIME”, by Patrícia Magalhães, a proposal that uses the stone as a starting point to reflect on the passage of time, memory and the transformation of places.

The exhibition brings together works created using different techniques, where print transfer intersects with drawing in graphite, charcoal, acrylic paint, and oil pastel on paper. Among the works presented are two drawings made from EDIA orthophotomaps and photographic montages showing the location of the old and current village of Luz.

It is in this relationship with light and with the transformation of the territory caused by Alqueva that the exhibition takes on a dimension particularly close to that of a museum. Between what was submerged, what was built and rebuilt, and what remains, Patrícia Magalhães looks at stone as a material that holds marks of time and the changes of places.

The exhibition explores different stages of stone’s transformation, from its origins as a material to its presence in the spaces we inhabit. Memory and forgetting, permanence and change intersect in a reflection on what time transforms and what it leaves behind.

The title “(all a) STONE OF TIME” serves as an initial clue to this approach, in a play on words that brings stone and time closer together and invites us to look at matter as a testament to the transformations of the landscape and human life.
