Cossoiro – Object of the month for June 2023

June’s Object of the Month:
Cossoiro
During the month in which the European Archaeology Conferences are held, the Museu da Luz is exhibiting one of the objects from its archaeological collection.
It is a cossoiro from Lousa Castle, a Roman archaeological site currently submerged by the waters of the Alqueva Reservoir.
Cossoiros were often used in weaving, where they were threaded onto the inner end of the spinning spindle.
