Towel – Object of the month for November 2024

Towel

In November, we featured a towel that was used as a tea towel. Until the end of the 20th century, it was traditional for women to sew for their own or their children’s trousseaus. This practice resulted in several works, such as tea towels, initially made of linen and later of cotton fabric, as in this case.
The towel is quadrangular in shape, white, and hand-embroidered throughout, with scalloped and buttonholed edges.
